New York state of mind

New York, New York! I have had a long distance love affair with this city for as long as I can remember. I have never actually been there, but every year daydream about visiting the Big Apple and, well, not coming back. There is something so magical about the chaos and insanity of that place, I know I could photograph it forever.

Recently my friend Nicola Muollo went to New York and took the most amazing photos. Nicola and I met in New Zealand a few years ago and I knew from day one that this girl had gumption. Not only is she a go getter and a great believer in the power of oneself, but she’s the kindest person you’ll ever meet. Extremely inspirational!

When I saw her intimate photos of New York I was moved. I asked her to share them with the world through my blog and she obliged. Here is what she says of the trip:

“Me and my friend Brooke and I, made the most of a statutory holiday, and went over to the United States of America. We went from LA to New York to Washington DC to Hawaii (via Phoenix). 2.5 weeks was all we needed in the cold, but we needed that time alone in our new found friend – Urban Outfitters (urbanoutfitters.com – chur).

What was underwhelming was the Empire State building. We spent our time in Manhattan looking for this epic building of King-Kong stature… only to discover that it was planted in front of our hotel the entirety of our stay.

We ventured to the North West of Manhattan to stay in a friend’s apartment, and radiators soon became our beloved enemies. We heart New York, and also summer-time. The two together would be nice… perhaps next time.”

Thanks Nicola for sharing the photos, I love New York so much more!
