Exhibition: Identity and Emotion

Last week we had the privilege of attending the opening night of an exhibition called IDENTITY and EMOTION. I met the organiser Genevieve Robey through Twitter and once I had commented on her work she invited us to the opening night.

The exhibition explores the notions of identity and emotion through paintings, photography and sculpture. Artists represented include Genevieve Robey, Sally Ryhanen, Isabelle Falconer, Graeme Gough, Mia Manson, Jeremy Saxon Oxley, Elzunia Rejmer and Richard Taorei. Violinist Christine Dunaway was there to set a serene mood with her lovely sound, she truly is a talented lady.

I took photos to show the wonderful work of these artists. I was very careful to show the relationships between works as the way they were displayed created interesting dynamics. One artist isn’t featured in my images, he requested to be omitted from my blog due to possible plagiarism. I understand where he is coming from, so I obliged. If you’d like to see the complete exhibition will just have to go see the it tonight!

We had a wonderful evening and had fallen in love with a photograph called ‘Gossip Lust’ by Sally Ryhanen (actually as I’m writing this post Sally called me to say thank you - what a wonderful touch). We are so excited to bring it home at the end of the exhibition, I can hardly wait!

And here are some of my images from opening night. I tried to include artist names on all images, but this didn’t work when there were multiple artists in one image. Hopefully the titles make up for that, It is important to give credit to the artists for all their work.
