On Trend: Bodysuits
Now that the weather has started to cool a little (emphasis on ‘little’ – this is Brisbane after all) I am turning my thoughts towards an autumn wardrobe (I was going to say ‘winter’, but that’s so far away!). While I was in town yesterday I briefly feasted my eyes on new seasons’ collections to find many sculptural skirts, dresses and coats. The perfect accompaniment? The bodysuit.
I remember these from back in the day (am I brave enough to say mid 1980s?). I wore them practically every day, they made me feel so much closer to my dream of being a dancer, or if that didn’t work out, being Johnny’s (Patrick Swayze’s character in Dirty Dancing) girlfriend.
Ok back to bodysuits – oh yes – they have definitely grown up since those days. They are this season’s most covetable item and the perfect way to show off a full, sculptural skirt, jacket or dress. Layers are your friend, and so are contrasts in textures. Embellishments? Of course! Mesh? Why not!
My absolute favourites are available from Birdmotel and MyCatwalk.com.au. Support the local economy I say and buy Australian! Not to mention postage is a breeze and your new pieces are in your hot little hands and no time.

I love all the accents that designers are putting on basic bodysuits. And you’re right, they are so perfect for layering.
