Standing up for your blog

To monetise or not to monetise – that is the question.

So you’ve been working hard on your blog and people like what you do. Every month your traffic has been increasing and now you’re thinking you might like to welcome advertisers onto your blog. What next?

First you need to create your own rate card. Work out what you will be charging and document that information. Your rate card should also include some information about your traffic and your audience, as well as background information on your blog.

Ashe Mischief from Dramatis Personae says that once you decide your rates you MUST stick to them. People will come along and presume that since you’re a blogger you aren’t business savy, or that you are only blogging as a hobby and you have no long term plans (or vision).

In this ‘Stop Getting Low-balled As A blogger‘ article on Independent Fashion Bloggers.com she shares her recent experiences and offers advice for all those who are new to charging for advertising.

Thank you Ashe for this post, it’s great to have help along the way.

Happy blogging everyone!
